Plex Media Center for OS X Leopard

Server outages

So after hours of working on simplifying settings last night this morning we found out that the main drive on our server had failed.  Uggh right?  So Cayce and I got a new drive, worked feverishly to get everything replaced.  Our SQL database that holds the content of blogs, forums and our wiki was corrupted.  We had to revert to previous backups for each of these databases.  The following services were rolled back:

  • Wiki – Rolled back to Sept 20 around 12:15 AM PST
  • Blogs – Rolled back to Sep 20 around 12:15 AM PST
  • Forums – Rolled back to Sep 20 around 1:42 PM PST
If you posted any messages/comments or edited any wiki pages between these times and 11:00 PM on Sep 20 PST please resubmit your posts.
P.S. Plex 0.5.19 is almost ready… shhh don’t tell Elan I told you.

Hopefully you had what I can call a very recent backup! Great job putting back everything!

Yeah, I think I’m gonna move to hourly snapshots of the database after this :)

What I do is to have a cron job sending every 3 hours a dump of the database to another server… It helped me once ;)

Yeah, I have it dump to my house nightly, then backup those dumps to a time machine. I’m gonna go one step further me things :)

@Volante InnoDB is a storage engine for MySQL.
